Atticus Hotel: Rooted in Our Community

The Atticus Hotel grew from the roots of our community, right here in McMinnville, Oregon. Partners Erin Stephenson and Brian Shea began chasing this dream back in 2010, launching a boutique lodging company in their hometown. Their first brand, 3rd Street Flats — a fusion concept blending the best of hotels, B&Bs, and vacation rentals — won guests over from the start, and has since grown to two locations in Historic Downtown McMinnville. That early success gave Erin and Brian the confidence to turn their full attention to a dream they’d been chasing even longer: a luxury hotel with an independent spirit, locavore sensibilities, high design, and a level of service rooted in the generosity that runs through their community. So they set to work, and the Atticus Hotel began to take shape.

Fueled by their love for McMinnville and a desire to help guests feel a real connection to it, Erin and Brian rethought the common tropes of what a hotel could be. Seven years of listening to everything their guests loved about 3rd Street Flats left them uniquely equipped to bring the best of that experience into something new: a luxury lifestyle hotel with its own twist.

Along the way, they brought on longtime friend and advisor Ben Perle as a partner, helping bring the vision to life. Ben’s hospitality career has taken him from his native France to Oregon, where he’s lived for the last twenty years leading some of the state’s top luxury hotels — experience he now brings to running the Atticus Hotel.

Since opening in the spring of 2018, the Atticus Hotel has told the story of what it means to be part of Oregon wine country, and guests have made that story their own ever since. From recognitions like Michelin Keys to repeat appearances on Trip Advisor’s Best of the Best Top 25 Hotels in America list, the Atticus Hotel experience keeps resonating, one stay at a time. With a home in the heart of one of Oregon’s most iconic historic towns, a deep commitment to local artisans, and a belief that true luxury lies in the intention behind every detail and decision, guests here get to enjoy wine country at its very best. Erin, Brian, and Ben wouldn’t have it any other way.
