Adventure Awaits

Oregon is known for its views — and many of the best are right in our backyard. Set in the heart of the Willamette Valley, the Atticus Hotel puts rolling vistas, sweeping vineyards, and mountain-studded horizons within easy reach. Our concierge can’t wait to send you to a few favorite spots.

See the Best of Oregon from McMinnville

Head west, about an hour away, to Pacific City, a quaint beach town with a coastline so striking it looks painted. Closer still, just outside Salem, walk behind a waterfall at Silver Falls State Park, home to the Trail of Ten Falls in the foothills of the Cascades. For a fuller day trip, head north and east along the Columbia River into the Columbia River Gorge — roughly two hours from McMinnville — a striking mix of rugged topography, untouched forest, and daring windsurfers. From there, it’s a short drive to Multnomah Falls, the tallest waterfall in the state, and on to Hood River, the gateway to Mt. Hood — worth the extra distance for the mountain views alone, though best planned as a full day rather than a quick stop.

Closer to home, Portland is just up the Willamette Valley, about an hour and twenty minutes away, with an unmatched concentration of fine food, beer, music, and craft shops.

Oregon Coast

About an hour west, the Pacific Ocean meets Oregon’s wild, undeveloped coastline. Pacific City is a favorite — a quiet beach town anchored by Cape Kiwanda, with a coastline so dramatic it looks painted. Spend the day, or stay until sunset; either way, it’s an easy escape from wine country to salt air.

Columbia River Gorge

Roughly two hours northeast, the Columbia River carves through basalt cliffs and waterfalls on its way to the Pacific — a striking mix of rugged topography, untouched forest, and daring windsurfers. Along the way, stop at Multnomah Falls, the tallest waterfall in the state, before continuing on to Hood River and the slopes of Mt. Hood. It’s a full day’s adventure, and worth every mile

Silver Falls State Park

Just outside Salem, about forty-five minutes from the Atticus Hotel, Silver Falls State Park offers the kind of hike that feels like discovery — the Trail of Ten Falls winds through the Cascade foothills, passing behind cascading water more than once along the way.

It’s one of Oregon’s most beloved state parks, and an easy half-day trip from McMinnville.

PORTLAND

About an hour and twenty minutes up the Willamette Valley, Portland offers an unmatched concentration of fine food, craft beer, music, and independent shops. It’s a different pace than McMinnville — bigger, louder, more eclectic — and an easy day trip when you’re ready for a change of scenery.
