Rest & Restore in Yamhill County

There’s a rhythm to a good wine country stay, and it isn’t all tasting rooms. Some achieve wellness with a soundbath or a soak just steps from your room; while others call for two wheels and an open road, or a trail that trades vineyard views for oak groves and quiet summits. Even the unexpected has a home here — a few miles out, the Spruce Goose sits inside one of the country’s top aviation museums, with a waterpark splashing along right next door. Whatever balance you’re after between adventure and stillness, our concierge knows exactly where to send you in Yamhill County.

Spas & Classes

McMinnville punches well above its weight when it comes to wellness. You don’t even have to leave the block to sink into a massage, facial, or soak — and a sauna experience is just a short walk away, the perfect way to close out a day spent among vineyard views.

Our concierge team knows every class the valley has to offer, and loves matching you to the right one. Settle into a soundbath and let the day melt away, get your hands in the clay and learn to throw a pot, or start the morning with a yoga class before the wine tasting begins. Whatever helps you feel most like yourself on vacation, we’ll help you find it.

Cycling

McMinnville rewards a rider who’s willing to wander. Local cycling writer Dan Shryock has described starting each ride downtown with coffee at Union Block or Flag & Wire before heading out into the countryside, and it’s easy to see why — the city limits give way to open country roads in just a few pedal strokes.

Head south from town and you can cross the Linfield University campus on your way into the country, or follow routes out toward landmarks like the Erratic Rock, a glacial boulder dropped by prehistoric floods, or loop past the  Evergreen Aviation Museum , home to the Spruce Goose.

Popular routes include the Youngberg Hill Loop, the McMinnville Wine Loop, and the Ballston Hopewell Loop — each one trading vineyard views for a bit of climbing, depending on how much of a challenge you’re after.

A word of caution for visiting riders:
Yamhill County’s country roads are beautiful but often narrow, with shoulders that can be hard to find, so riding defensively matters here as much as anywhere.

Our concierge can point you toward the routes that fit your skill level and steer you clear of the roads locals tend to avoid.
Whether you’re chasing a long, lazy loop through wine country or working up to a bigger climb, let us help you find the ride that matches your legs and your mood.

Hiking

You don’t need to drive to the Gorge or the Tillamook Forest for a hike worth the effort — some of the best trails in the state are close enough to be home in time for dinner.

Just outside town, the Miller Woods Conservation Area is a 130-acre property devoted to conservation and land rehabilitation. The Outer Loop runs about 4.5 miles through oak groves, shaded forest, and a sun-filled pasture, with a moderate 524 feet of elevation gain and an average hike time of about 1.5 hours. Shorter options branch off too, including a half-mile route to Oak Summit and a quick loop past a pond filled with water lilies and bullfrogs. Because the land is protected, dogs aren’t permitted on the trail, and a small donation is requested at the trailhead.

About eight miles from downtown, the Trappist Abbey Guadalupe Trail offers a different kind of hike — one with a destination as much as a route. The 3.5-mile loop climbs through oak groves and open pasture, gaining 772 feet along the way, with a handful of named offshoot trails for hikers who want to shorten or extend the route. Push on to the summit and you’ll reach the Guadalupe Shrine, a quiet, photo-worthy spot well worth the climb.

Not sure which trail suits your group, your timeline, or your boots? Our concierge can help you pick the right hike for the day you have in mind — and point you toward a well-earned glass of wine when you’re back.

Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum

Just a few miles from the hotel sits one of the country’s great aviation collections. Travel+Leisure has named it one of the ten best aviation museums in the U.S., and it’s easy to see why — the museum is home to the legendary Hughes Flying Boat, better known as the Spruce Goose, alongside other icons of flight like an SR-71 Blackbird and an A-10 Thunderbolt. Beyond the static exhibits, visitors can catch a film in the Aerodrome Giant Screen Theater or take a turn in the museum’s flight simulator.

Right next door, Wings & Waves Waterpark turns the same love of flight into a few hours of family fun, with waterslides built right into a real 747. It’s the rare combination of aviation history and pure splash-around fun, all in one stop.

It’s a fitting pair for us, too. One of our Balcony Suites is named for Howard Hughes — the man who built the Spruce Goose himself — so guests can spend the morning standing in the shadow of his most famous creation, then return to the hotel to stay in a room that carries his name

Girl’s Weekend

Gather your besties and head to Oregon wine country to celebrate — well, anything. A book club road trip, a college roommate reunion, a bachelorette party with a little hijinks built in. The Willamette Valley has no shortage of ways to mark the occasion, and our concierge team knows exactly which touches turn a good weekend into an unforgettable one. Spend an afternoon soaking up each other’s company at the spa, giggle your way through a hot air balloon ride over the vineyards at sunrise, or duck into one of our favorite wine caves for a tasting just for your crew. However you want to celebrate, we’ll help make it the trip your group still talks about years from now.

The right room sets the tone before the weekend even starts. Our Luxury Bunkhouse was built for a crowd — six, to be exact — with a full wall of bunks, a wine fridge always within reach, and a living room practically begging for a dance party. If your group wants more room to spread out, our Penthouse delivers: two bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, and enough space for everyone to get ready together or carve out a little quiet time alone. Pour something bubbly on the balcony, build a charcuterie board on the island bar, and let the whole gang settle in.
